Heck, we'll even give you Hawaii, while we take Alaska since they're a "Red State."

Besides the Crips, Bloods, Hells Angels, Serranos/Nortenos Skin Heads Russian Mafia, Snakeheads, Sons of Samoa, etc..., the west coast wouldn't have too many REAL warriors left to defend this new country from either a Mexican, Chinese, Russian OR Canadian invasion... Don't worry, the occupation forces, with members from one or more of the above gangs... I mean the new government of the "people" will fully protect your individual rights to free speech, free press, public assembly to burn down/destroy other people's property. Ha and another Ha if you believe that you would even have anything close to the freaadoms people enjoy right now.

Sorry, but in the "real world" a militay-weak country is nothing but prey for a stronger aggressor nation since it's only "human nature" to dominate the weak. I know that's not a "progressive" thought or statement, but it's a fact, just look at the world we live in from Europe to Africa to Asia and back to Central/South America. Yes, it sucks, but that's reality.

I know for a fact, this new "West Coast Country" couldn't form an effective Army for combat operations since that goes against the left's core belief system. Even Sweden and Switzerland are protected by the U.S. and NATO.... They will not admit to it, but simply research this fact. Also, Good luck with your "peace corps" or your "self defense forces" to defend your homeland from attacks or threats of attack. I'm pretty sure that most, if not all, the combat Soldiers, Marines, Saliors and Airmen, past, present and future ones, like myself, will head east to start new lives in OUR new country AND taking those skills and our civilian skills with us to build up and defend OUR new homeland.

Plus, most liberals don't want a soldier or cop around since their presence is soooo threatening... Until they need one or one million to protect them in a crisis. Also, have fun with all your large scale wildfires and earthquakes.

With that said, I'm pretty sure that the "Eastern Armies" wouldn't come to your rescue and fight your fight. We'll be too busy laughing our collective @zzes off while watching you guys try to buy or try to reason your way out of a fight with some Third World military's warlord...Since again, fighting just goes against the west coast's belief system. Plus, "fighting" is sooooo. Right wing AND republican!!

HECK!! Don't worry, "I" put money on the fact that it will be the "Eastern Armies" that will invade you first anyway... Once again, making the country whole!! That's if California doesn't drain both Oregon and Western Washington dry first since California would only see Oregon and Western Washington as only satellite States and not as equals.

Way too funny of a thought!!

Add to that the city of San Francisco which got it's water supply by damming Yosemite National Park. (Yes, it was a NP when that happened.) Do we really want to be tied and eventually dominated by people who think it's OK to dam a National Park. And, if they will dam one that is just a few hours away, what will they do those in WA and OR? It's an awful thought.
So the theory is we should cling to right wing policies because they support the environment? Who hates the environment more than Republicans?

Every independent and Republican I know has much more respect for the environment.

It's no wonder democrats want to lock up all of our public lands, to protect them from other democrats.

I am no fan of Mr. Trump or his campaign. But, letting him control our behaviors, set the standard for how we treat others who disagree with us is not going to work well, IMHO.

If you get a chance to meet Pres. Trump and give him a piece of your mind, go ahead. Great! He can use all the 'mind' he can get. :-0

But, don't take it out on others, including those who voted for him. There are many good people who have been let down by both parties, and they voted for Mr. Trump out of the desperation that comes from a political system that favors the rich and powerful while tossing a few bones the to the rest of us. In their view Clinton was no different from Trump in that respect. The net result would have been the same.

Do you remember when Ms. Clinton made her speech in which she made the 'Basket of Deplorables' remark? She was talking to a bunch of privileged, wealthy people when she made that remark about Tens of Millions of American citizens. Listen to the response of the audience. They laughed! Laughed! That response was far worse that Ms. Clinton's remarks and goes to the heart of why people voted for Mr. Trump (and chose him over more traditional Republican candidates).

Just as people on the right need to listen and understand to those who have been victims of sexism, racism, and other forms of bigotry, people on the left need to listen to and understand those who have been victims of the economic changes in this country over the last few decades.

By the way, great article in the Seattle Times a few days ago on how those 'Cheap Eats' are served to us at the expense of many who work in the food service business. See my point? We who have the money get a great $10 lunch. They struggle to pay the rent. Could they be future Trump voters in the making?

Thanks for a great example of the kind of rhetoric we need to avoid.

Seacove, the first post wasn't a serious thought or a serious solution to a very unrealistic question. California, Oregon and/or Washington State isn't going anywhere... Period.

The second post was a more serious thought since its the truth to a REAL problem we're facing now... Let's be honest, most of us are not leaving the country AND even if one "should" leave, there is NO guarantees that "their" new country of choice would even take them UNLESS they had plenty of money or fame.
