About the schools...
I don't know if I accidently posted this twice - sorry if I did..
The Northshore school district has two sides - the West side and the East side. While the West side, which includes Bothell, has been growing rapidly (zero lot line homes), the East side, which includes Woodinville, has some pretty strict growth management laws. Woodinville is trying to keep its rural feel and is not allowing the huge housing developments.
The district as a whole has been losing population due to 1) Empty nesters are not moving on and 2) the price of homes has proven too much for most young families who are opting for cheaper homes further from Seattle and the Eastside. Two of my three children have special needs and I have nothing but good to say about the district as far as programs and support.
On a side note, the Northshore school district is selling a huge chunk of land to the city of Bothell for Bothell's new revitilization of downtown. Unfortunately, that money is only allowed into the "capital" budget not the "general" fund. Hence, Bothell High School is being completely remodeled as are other facilities - because they have that money (: Good luck on your decision

We've lived in Woodinville for almost 7 years; have 2 kids in the school system and am very happy with it...lots of parent involvement; particularly at the elementary school level. Most school districts have budget shortfalls from time-to-time, so would not eliminate living in Woodinville because the Northshore School District is experiencing a shortfall. The class sizes for my children have been fine; about 25 kids per classroom. As to commute times, I work in Bellevue and my commute is 25 minutes. My husband commutes to MS and it only takes him 20 minutes.

I know a few families who live in Duvall but variance into the Lake Washington School district - their children attend Rosa Parks Elementary. Rosa Parks is located in the Redmond Ridge neighborhood which is not too far from Duvall.
We will have a new middle school in the Redmond Ridge area in a few years. I'm not sure what the plans are - if any - for a new high school for this area.
There is a lot of development - new homes being built and going for 600K up into the million dollar range - going on around the Trilogy and Redmond Ridge and Redmond Ridge east areas and all of these families moving in will need to send their children somewhere. We also have condos and apartments here full of young families who cannot afford or choose not to buy these really expensive homes but want our kids to attend the good schools.

I am a student who has lived in Woodinville all my life. Although my parents work in Seattle, there's a joke in Woodinville that if you live here, you work for either MS or Boeing. If you are going to move to Woodinville, you'll be getting a really nice area, with a good downtown and plenty to do. As for schools, which seems to be your main concern, Northshore schools are some of the best in the state and frequently test very well on state standardized tests. The overcrowding does not exist in the Woodinville areas of Northshore. Depending on how old your children are, they'll be going to an all new high school and a great school--Woodinville High. As a product of both public and private schools, I believe very strongly that at WHS, you can get a private school education for a public school price.
Lake Washington District is hit and miss. Lake Washington High is not a very good school and is plagued with lots of gang violence. Redmond High is not too bad. All new school and good academics but it doesn't have the arts programs that Woodinville, Bothell and Inglemoor High Schools have.
As for your Price, that will depend on the neighborhood. If I were you, I'd live in Woodinville.

I'm just getting to it now! I'm also researching Woodinville to move, but it sounds like the commute isn't that great and the houses are on the higher end (for me). Any cheaper options but with still good schools?
