Hello,

I'm going to be in the area soon, and I was wondering which service was better: Uber or Lyft? In terms of:

1) Ease of use

2) Reliability: do the drivers cancel on you? Is it hard to secure a ride?

3) Pricing

4) Quality: both the drivers and cars as well as customer service

Thank you very much for helping me out.

I'm a Lyft guy, just find their drivers nicer and more interesting. I can't really articulate it, I just do. My wife says that their website is more fun and approachable, therefore attracting drivers (and passengers) who vibe with that. Pricing is fair, drivers kind, never had a driver cancel on me, easy to use.

I'm a new driver with Lyft in Boston.

Many drivers seem to drive with both.

Supposedly, some/most Lyft drivers have fewer negative thoughts about Lyft corporate policies than Uber drivers about Uber, but a driver's forum I read regularly has angry Lyft drivers also.

In some marke, Lyft won't allow older cars whereas in some markets, Uber allows cars sometimes over ten years old.

Lyft allows me 14 hours per day online waiting for pings or in driving mode ; Uber sets no limit (at least in the Boston market).

You can tip on the app with Lyft. You can't on the app with Uber. And Uber tells drivers not to expect tips, but they don't discourage them either. Different philosophies I guess...

From a multi city sampling, including Seattle, Lyft drivers are much more courteous and easy going and seem to like their corporate culture much more than Uber. I've had some bad Uber experiences but will use them if Lyft isn't in the market, for example in London.

Uber is struggling in the Tri-Cities because only Kennewick has approved the service. Richland says they have approved it, but still is unavailable for some unknown reason. Pasco voted it down because they wanted all drivers to be finger printed, which most drivers don't have a problem with, but Uber does. Smaller towns seem to have a hard time with this new tech, and frankly, they are only blocking commerce at the end of the day. I would say, Richland and Pasco need to get a clue. It is 2017, and if you can't keep up you will ultimately be left behind.

actually with uber you can tip but it is difficult to find and is in the settings somewhere.
I have always used uber and have had no issues until around maybe 3 weeks ago where it was giving me drivers that took 15 mins to get to me when normally its 2-4 mins. And then had a few drivers cancel on me, which made no sense as prior to this i had no problems.

still will use uber when I am in Seattle (and partially live here now). Plus they have the app for Windows Phone (which i use) and lyft does not.

Seems like most people "sharing a ride" work for both services. I have used both, they work equally well. If you want the ability to tip choose Lyft. Uber seemed to shady to me so I decided to switch to Lyft for a while.

Uber is an evil and terrible company. Lyft all the way.
