Valid - I admit I was dramatic. It's the "feels like" you're referring to. I'm from New York City - the concrete holds onto the heat all hours of the night, and it's often hotter in the brownstones and apartments than on the street. Murder rates skyrocket in the heat, and AC bills are crazy. The subway tunnels are excruciating. In my experience it's weeks at a time before there's a real reprieve.

So yeah, let's say most of the summer definitely stays below 100, but factoring in humidity and the concrete oven effect, it feels like it much of the time in my experience.

Coda is correct, I lived in Brooklyn, never cared for summer. The heat, and worse humidity just bounces from one concrete building to another. Winter was fine by me, clouds and rain only lasted 2-3 days straight tops, lots of variety.

Overall, life in NYC is not that bad, Oct- April. Summer whew! I am out.
