No, just someone that has lived in sunny, warm places in summer. Summer is at least 85 degrees with sun. It hardly ever gets that warm in western Washington.
I have a friend that moved over from Bellingham. He threw away 11 sets of rainware after he realized it did not rain over here. His comment was...."You know when you grow up in western Washington you never realize that the weather is so bad. You just think its like that everywhere".
I'm glad you like the weather over there....but most people need a lot more sun. Yeah, and summer can be nice over there....from July 15 through August 15th. Except we were over there for a week in August last year and it RAINED!!

That is a pretty narrow definition of summer!
On average Seattle gets 26 days at 80 or hotter and 10 days at 85 or better each year with two days a year that hit 90 or more. A day over 95 occurs about once every other year. Triple digit temps in Seattle are exceedingly rare...it has only hit 100 three times in the past 110 years.
So, while Seattle may not win any awards for hot weather, it does have some of the best summer weather in the country.

Just say not to Monroe.
OK, so I have to say, I agree with Seattlemom. I lived in Duvall for 5 years, and now we live in Snohomish (which is just on the other side of Monroe). I would never choose to live in Monroe, if I could help it. There's just something funky about that town. They're both rural. But, Monroe - "Mon - no." in my opinion.

If you hate the rain, dont move to a place where it rains all the time!
So sick of hearing people complain about it. Go to California!

I wasn't complaining....I was just giving advice to a poor soul from Colorado that has to live west of the Cascades for a year.
And I don't live where it rains all the time....509 it is more than just an area code.

You don't have to be harsh this person. They need care and understanding. Sometimes people don't get to chose where live due to job or military or whatever. I had to live in Seattle for almost 10 years becuase of dh's job. So glad to out of there -Happily to be living in the Carolinas!!
Maybe offer an opinion on how this person can endure the rain rather attack her for not liking it.
If you don't have something nice to say don't say anything.

Washington State is kind of like Two-Face from the Batman universe. I think we know which side is which.

Duvall & Monroe
I have lived halfway between Duvall & Monroe since 1986. I feel equally at home in both communities.
Monroe is larger & the downtown area is growing more rapidly than Duvall.
A big reason for that is because Monroe has more room to spread out. They have a big multiplex movie theater, a new Loew's, Fred Meyers, many restaurants, a hospital and they plan to add a big new shopping center near Lowes.
Both Duvall & Monroe have a lot of new construction going on. As you drive through Duvall you may think it's much smaller than it really is. There's a lot more to Duvall out of your view to the east. Duvall has several housing developments with plans for a new one with over 100 homes.
As far as meth labs goes, Duvall also has rural areas that could have some too. Meth labs can be anywhere. I've read that some people actually manufacture it in their cars.
I love both Duvall & Monroe.
In Duvall I enjoy the small town charm. If you get a chance, spend some time in Duvall Books. In a world of generic stores that all look alike, Duvall Books is an authentically old fashioned book store.
Also, you might want to go to the annual fireman's breakfast at the Duvall Fire Dept. on June 8th. You'll really get a feel for the town as you're surrounded by local people both in the long line to get in & as you share a table with the locals.
If want to be where there's more going on & more shops to choose from, then Monroe would be more suited for you. In addition to the places I already mentioned there's a new YMCA with a swimming pool, a large somewhat new library and a larger downtown area.
I'm lucky. Living equal distance to both, I just go whatever direction I'm in the mood for.
