I'm from the West but lived in ATL and can see what you are talking about. In the South, it's an all-consuming passion, it seems, or at least something
you feel that you have to do.
I can't stand golf. It's not even good exercise, has little calorie reduction value and is surrounded by a lot of pomp and circumstance - i.e. the country club. If you like tennis, which is cool, it tends to be played indoors at higher cost health clubs that have the covered court area.
Well, kudos to Seattle on this one. Golf
didn't appear to be as big of a deal. Land is expensive and the density is higher, such that golf courses weren't as ubiqutous or as talked about as other places I've been/seen.
