Seattle’s population, to be exact, hit 704,352 in 2016. Doesn't seem like that long ago the city passed 600,000. I remember asking in this forum at that time if the city would top 1 million at some point. Most said no. Does anyone still feel that 1 million is unreachable for Seattle?

If the US was like Europe or Asia, that wouldn't' have been a problem. But because this is the US, it is a problem due to the lack of transportation options.

Keep in mind, this is just Seattle proper. The metro area must be 4 million now.

Which is the bigger problem because these are the people who commute to Seattle every day.

You have to find a way to house 300,000 more people within the city limits. Not that it can't be done, but a lot of new housing will need to be built and that will take some time. God, could you imagine trying to move around with 1 million in the city limits?!?

Its for the money , not quality of life. Give it some time, some will make the money and say its not worth it and leave.

Well only time will tell. San Francisco managed to squeeze 850,000 people in a 49 square mile area. If Seattle reaches even close to that density with it's much larger area, I think we will easily see 1 million. The metro area of course will continue to grow as well so it will be one of the three mega metros on the west coast. I agree with you all about the traffic. The Seattle area was not designed to handle that many cars.
