I want to know where I can buy some huckleberries, ideally from a "you-pick" farm. I know they're not in season yet, but my father-in-law is coming to visit and he adores those little berries lol! I'm in Lake Stevens, but I'd happily travel to pick them myself. We're also going to be in Leavenworth this summer, so we're also open to that.

Thank in advance 🤗

I think you can get preserves at tourist traps but the real thing is up high in the mountains in August. If the deer and bears don't get them first.

Store bought just plain suck.

The side of my garage is full of Huckleberry bushes that I planted there, but at only 600' elevation we've not had any berries in 5 years. Metropolitan Market has some in season, but you really have to go to Idaho, Montana or Wyoming for good fresh ones.

The red huckleberries grow fairly plentifully in the woods around here. They're small, and they're kind of tart. But I like them.

There are huckleberries growing on our property and along the road up to some private land that has public access where there are some gen more. We are at 750' in NW Washington. Call a Ranger Station in the Mt. Baker-Snoqualamie National Forest. They might have some ideas. They do best left in their natural habit. We have cedar and Douglas fir trees and sword and lady ferns so they like that habitat.

We get ours near Trout Lake, WA (National forest / "Indian Heaven" long ways from Lake Stevens....

very elevation and habitat dependent, Forest Service will be a good resource, or Master Gardener group that cans / freezes local berries.

Very tough to find commercially

Takes a VERY long time to PICK a reasonable qty.

Thanks for the info everyone! Looks like it's time to dust off the ol' hiking boots. I'll definit lt have to give some forest rangers a call.

Might be faster to take a day trip to Montana and just buy some.
