I'd live within walking distance, sell the car, and use the savings to pay $2,000 in rent for a nicer place. The near parts of Capitol Hill and anywhere in/on First Hill, South Lake Union, or Belltown make this easy. Or Lower Queen Anne or Eastlake which are longer walks. Parking is often rented separately so you can skip that in addition to the direct car costs.

I make $75k/yr North of Seattle (late 20s) and am having trouble getting by with my savings goals. All I want beyond that is a 1br separated house where I can be away from pot smoking and excessive noise... not happening

However, if apartment living and modest savings are your thing, you'll be fine. Cars are exorbitantly expensive anywhere, but even more so in the Seattle area... some of the highest fuel taxes in the US if I remember correctly. That said, the hiking here is amazing but mostly requires a personal vehicle (rent if you cant)

I just moved to Seattle from DFW this year. From what I can tell from the last 6 months here is that the cost of living is pretty much a wash.

Although I don't have an enormous amount of faith in these sites, just saying:

That is way off, with property taxes rising like crazy. Dallas has gotten very very expensive.

It used to be very cheap, not anymore. Cost of living in Dallas is right up there with coastal cities now and its not getting better.

Dallas has gotten pricier, but we did a cost analysis for the area recently.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Dallas came out almost 17% cheaper.
