It does a lot more than drizzle. Yes, drizzle and fine mist are in Seattle weather's repertoire. But so is pouring rain. I used to walk to work at the UW from the far reaches of the U District. It rained so hard, my raincoat AND my heavy wool clothes got soaked through by the time I got near the UW. I had to have a long goretex raincoat made for my walks to work. Most raincoats and jackets are only water-repellant; made, apparently, to keep people dry only for the brief walk from transit to work, or from car park to work.

Anyway, the weather is getting so wonky, and will be getting more so, that we don't know what to predict, hardly. But long-term climatologists are saying rain is going to intensify in the Puget Sound region during Fall/Winter, while summers will become warmer and drier.

I was jesting a bit, Ruth . I'm from Miami originally, this rain is child's play compared to the torrential downpours I grew up with. I actually wish it rained harder sometimes, my wife says "Seattle rain lacks passion".

Now, while we are nowhere near the top of the list for most amount of rain per year, we are up there when it comes to rainy days, which is why you need to run, not walk, to your nearest Costco and stock up on inexpensive, but great clothing. Their jackets are usually all you need for most of the cool season and it will be at a fraction of the price at any store. If winter sports are your thing, wait for them to stock helmets, gloves, pants for snowboarding or if you like to keep it low key, they have been selling great snowshoeing equipment.

Depending how much you love the area, the first and second winters are usually tolerated okay, but the deary winter days usually start to chafe most people, make sure you force yourself out of your home no matter the dampness.

Winter is coming.

And now I have to run away from the HBO lawyers.
The rain is one of the reasons I love it here, and in Sammamish we get 20" more rain than Seattle. I'm looking forward to its return. That almost constant light drizzle doesn't stop me from spending time outside, just need a light jacket with hood, and it keeps everything green. Many places get half the rain but in one or two days of heavy downpours, so you can't do anything outside.

100% agree. I really can't wait until the cooler/wetter weather sets in. Don't get me wrong, this summer has been beautiful but I live for cooler temps. Looks like it will be more of the same through Labor Day weekend. The past two days have been a nice change though.

We both enjoy rain and wind. I did not expect it to be so consistently beautiful here every day.

Haha, sorry to disappoint you! Just wait until fall and winter. Let us know in February if you're still enjoying the rain and wind.
