Yes Bluefox, among top chefs in the country, Seattle has established quite the reputation for "farm to table" cuisine, here is one (of many) articles: https://www.google.com/amp/amp.fooda...n%3fsource=dam

Thierry Rautureau, multiple award winning legendary French chef in Seattle, former owner of Rovers and current places Loulay and Luc, swears that our local products (fish, oysters, meat, fruit, greens, foraged mushrooms, etc) are some of the very best in the world.

I love Asia and have collectively spent about a year of my life there. I relish being able to access delicious, obscure Asian food in Seattle. If you know where to look, there is exceptional Korean, Vietnamese, Laotian, Khmer Cambodian, Nepalese, South Indian, Thai, Malaysian, Pakistani, Indonesian, Bengali (Bangladeshi), Szechuan, Taiwanese and of course Japanese.

What exactly did he say? How has Seattle been "ruined" by the tech boom? I can tell you a couple of things: the U District and the north end in general haven't changed, except that more apt. bldgs. have sprouted here and there. The south end has improved tremendously, and now is known for trendy, pleasant neighborhoods.

So, I'd really like to know what this guy is talking about, specifically. I'd also like to know who he is; why should we care what he thinks about Seattle?

...anybody?

Has it even aired yet? He is known for being pretty cynical and negative about EVERYTHING. Who cares anyway? Should be a good show as per usual. Oh, and what Kayela said. Spot on.

You are very right, the south end has changed the most, and exponentially for the better IMO

Yeah guys, Bourdain is pretty cool but known for (sometimes) his tongue in cheek cynicism. He does call it as he sees it. Listen, change is good and bad, that's just the way life is. Here is a short clip of his visit. https://www.google.com/amp/amp.kiro7...sode/648750486

Tongue in cheek indeed Homes That synopsis is classic! He hangs out with Mark Lanegan though. Legit.

I agree with Bourdain & went through my own grieving process due to all of the new growth. Ended up moving for a slower pace but visit Seattle now and then. It has become a difficult place to navigate.

Thank you for the info (really - not sarcasm), but I wasn’t saying Seattle has a bad food scene. It’s just not known for it, and it doesn’t shine compared to its competition. When Seattle gets a Michelin guide then we’ll talk. But it doesn’t remotely compare to Chicago, New York, SF. It’s probable upper third tier in the food scene. I would even say places like LA, Houston, New Orleans and Atlanta have better food scenes. It’s comparable to Denver, Dallas and Minneapolis. Asian food is pretty decent though.

I just watched the Bourdain show on Seattle, and I thought it was spot on, bold and keen. Also wonderfully filmed and produced. I don't get that some say he put-down the "tech-boys", he just brought it up as a point that people are talking about. This was actually a very good documentary on Seattle in the end. It was very balanced, showing the good and the not so good about the city. Congrats to CNN and Bourdain!
