This is interesting. It would be equally interesting if you ranked by % of total. Smaller cities like St. Paul and Portland will never be top by # of Norwegians but they may have a higher % of Norwegians.

I believe Seattle would be much higher for German, Swedish, Japanese, Chinese and Korean as a % of the total, versus absolute #.

Also, does this list suggest that Seattle has the 9th largest number of Seattlites in the US? How does that work? Surely we are not exporting that many people?

One thing seems skewed. I am very sure we have a lot more Ethiopians than that, approaching 80,000. This is families or individuals?

U.S. Census Data, foreign-born only. To me the numbers are less interesting than the rankings, in that they show to where different ethnicities are migrating.

It would be interesting to put average age to those numbers. The people with Norwegian, Swedish, British, Scottish, etc... are going to skew a LOT older. Non-hispanic whites will fall below 50% of the total US population in less then 25 yrs (and a lot of those remaining will be old folks). The average age of non-hispanic white person in the US is like 57 yrs old and the average Asian 27 and average Mexican 10.

Canadian is an ethnicity??? lol.

Did I miss hispanic ethncities?...Mexican and other central american countries should be pretty large numbers. Irish has to be much higher. I think I read Irish & German are the two largest European ancestries in the U.S.

They're likely in the Top Three for Seattle, but Seattle is not ranked in the Top Ten for Indian immigrants (at least for the data cited):

5. Washington DC: 150,591
6. Dallas: 140,197
7. Los Angeles: 138,791
8. Houston: 123,598
