What is your WALK SCORE?
I did this a long time ago - and of course Sacramento Midtown where I lived score 91
I did where I live in Seattle and it's 72, but of course as the website says it's not factoring in weather or hills...which would totally drop the score to zero in my opinion. (hahaha right? you can hear my sarcasm?) I've been here 4 years and I've never taken a walk once (not an exaggeration)...in Midtown I was out every chance I got.

This is pretty neat. It doesn't factor in a few things, like you said, so my location received a slightly better score than it should have. My current north-hill neighborhood of Akron, Ohio received a 77 out of 100. It's not a desired 77 though -- but it did remind me that I should drive my car less. I can't wait to move to the PNW.

CityGirl, you sound like you haven't even tried to adapt to Seattle whatsoever. You have never taken a walk once, seriously? No wonder you are so miserable, you must feel like you are in a prison. It helps to make at least a little effort to get out and enjoy your surroundings. Greenlake isn't even that bad as far as hills are concerned. Sacramento is way more suburban than Seattle and if you can walk there, you can certainly walk here. Maybe step away from the computer right now? The sun is shining. Its gotta be mid-50's out there. Put on a coat and take in your surroundings, maybe it will soothe your mood.
I work in a bland office tower, and take daily walks through downtown during my lunch break. It reinvigorates me and helps make the work day bearable. There are thousands of other people walking out there with me. Cmon, its not that hard.

I scored an 89. Everything is within walking distance of my front door. Citygirl the more I hear from you the more I think your problem goes far beyond living in Seattle. If I had to live in Sacramento I would first go to a doctor and get a asthma inhaler again, then try to at least make an effort to try to adapt.

The walkscore of my old neighborhood is 98. My new neighborhood is only 75 but I think that's a bit low. That site is missing certain places that I like to go and I think that perhaps I have a wider walking radius than they do. In any case our new place is better suited to me. We're only a bit more than a quarter mile away from the main shopping drag and it's nice to be close enough to walk but far enough that the noise doesn't travel. Sure, I have to deal with a hill but hills don't bother me once I'm used to them. Keeps me fit.

Just for comparison, I live in a suburban-ish area in the South and mine's 15.

I have gone to Greenlake a few times, but I have to get in my car and drive down to it and park, ever try and find parking there when it's sunny? I did ride my bike there a couple times and took my toddler but it was super stressful...
Oh and I even jioned a Bike Ride to work group in May 2006. And came in 2nd. That's Greenlake to Downtown. I do give effort. (I even had my then 3 year old on the back of the bike)
PS I did go out today to the Mall with my husband and new baby

I was thinking the same thing. Most people I know from California love it here. In fact there are hundreds of thousands of former Californians living in the Puget Sound who have adapted quite well and appreciate all the great things the Seattle area has to offer.
I think this walkscore is a little off. I got an 85 for my neighborhood in North Seattle. I find it strange that my area scored higher than Green Lake.

Hmm...scored 100 for downtown Bellevue. Also scored 100 for my old apt in Capitol Hill. Seems about right, both are surrounded by just about everything you could need within a few block radius.
