I have a small 2BR condo near Madison and 23rd, so it's on major buslines to the UW, the Link, and downtown, + it has a very high walkability score & a parking space. I might be attending grad school in another city for two years starting in the Fall of 2019, so I am thinking about renting out my place at that time. However, I really would like to spend my summer break back in Seattle. Would it be reasonable to rent out my unit for 10 months a year? I have never been a landlord before.

Hi Suelli,

The demand is high in that location. I think if you say what you want, you will find a willing taker! Just sign a 10 month lease.

Yes you need to check it out with your board. My experience has been that sometimes boards look the other way when it comes to this but at the end of the day condos do better with owner occupied units as they have more interest in keeping the property in top shape.
