I agree. BTW...Isn't this area like one of the highest rated for skin cancer? I don't know this to be fact, but I have heard. It's probably because the skin goes into shock when it comes in contact with the rays from that yellow orb in the sky. What's that thing called again? YOu know...that big yellow thingy that sometimes appears. I'll have to google "yellow orb in the sky" and get back to ya.

Not sure what you're referring to. Perhaps if I move to the South, my memory will be refreshed.

We would leave mainly because I'm from the midwest (Oklahoma). All my family is there and my parents are getting up in age. It would kill me if something were to happen to them and I wasn't close by to help out.

My hubby and I thought Seattle was it for us. We have been here many times and loved the area, but once we are here it's just so-so. I love the weather, that's not my issue. To be honest, my hubby and I both said the other day, it's no different than San Diego (we lived there for 8 years) other than the palm trees and weather. We were looking for more laid back and down to earth-which we thought Seattle=liberal=laid back. Guess it's just a different type.

Soooo.... in Seattle for the kiddies on a rainy day, we have:
Children's museums, Pacific Science Center, Museum of Flight (boys LOVE it and a lot of girls enjoy it too, depending), the Washingt
on Serpentarium (snakes and lizards-very cool!), Point Defiance Zoo and Aquarium, IMAX theater, Children's theater, Fun Forest, Waterfront Arcade, Funtasia, Putt Putt Golf at several different areas like Interbay, Color Me Mine ceramics studio, Vertical World, Seattle Art Museum, Asian Art Museum, Frye Art Museum, The Little Gym, Kids n' Clay Pottery, and a ton of different libraries with story hours, as well as museum or city tours (underground) and other fun things to do indoors. Whoever suggested the mall needs to GET A LIFE! I grew up in Seattle and my parents never let the rain get in the way of us doing things as a family- they simply strapped on my rainboots, slicker and I took my mini umbrella and off we would go to enjoy the city! In the winter we would go sledding at Bitter Lake or Jackson Greens, snowshoeing in the Pass, or I would spend the afternoon playing with my brother and then walking two blocks to our neighbourhood library for story time. I could walk my big black lab to Bitter Lake Park that was ( and still is, from my parents) three houses down from the house, or play with my neighbourhood friends at the rec center at said park. I would go roller skating at the rec every Friday night, and we would go play lazer tag and putt putt if we ever got tired of the neighbourhood games. I loved my childhood and would have been bummed if my parents made me stay indoors all the time. I was rarely sick either, and to this day rarely even get sick once a year (except when I come to Tucson in the winter because of the 75/80 degree days and 35/40 degree nights-temp drops drastically within an hour there).
You must be assuming that people can afford to live close to those areas(now) and enjoy all those activities. For most people, those require a $30.00 commute, $10.00 parking and the Seattle traffic fight for your life (plus whatever entry fee there is, food, etc.). Most people can't just run down the road and be at the zoo, aquarium, museum, etc. Many kids don't have these options. My kids would be happy as can be if they could just go out and jump on their trampoline or ride their bikes. The point is that they can't most of the time. It's just no fun jumping in a rain-suit...just no fun.

That yellow thing... It gives off something called heat. When those gray things go away it sometimes is up in the sky. Ring a bell?

On the BRIGHT side, I just saw on the news (breaking news ) that this weekend is going to be the nicest weekend in six months (true story). The yellow orb is supposed to be out on Saturday and it's supposed to be only partly cloudy on Sunday. It's going to be 60ish people. Hang on! Bust out the wool socks, cargo shorts and sandals!

Heh I am looking forward to it. Maybe in an ode to the southern-style weather I'll break out my banjo, straw hat and pickup truck.

Usually May is when I've had it - I usually go "over the deep end" in May. Which is interesting because when I moved to Seattle it was May.

IN my hometown it's 70s now and you know that heat wave we get on Saturday and we'll be in the 60s??? Well, same heat wave hitting them and their Saturday is predicted at 85!! PERFECT WEATHER FOR ME. So you see I was used to much warmer Weather. My body also thinks it should be warming up by now..and usually May I have a big ol' fit because I am DESPERATE for some warmth (Warmth defined as anything above 70-75) and consecutive warmth too, I want more than someone saying to me "But did you see Saturday it was Gorgeous!" I want to kill those people - cuz I want to say..."Yes Saturday was lovely - now I'd like a whole month of that please! Not just Saturday!"

GET HERE SUMMER - PLLLLLLLLEASE
