I find it hard to believe that no one has mentioned that Seattle is the world's number one reseller of miniature Space Needle replicas.

I would say no and it won’t be until you can depend solely on public transportation to get around to all parts of the city. There’s also too much single-family zoning which means a suburban mindset and lifestyle. People don’t wanna see nonresidents passing through their neighborhoods. One time I pulled up to the side of the road in my car in a residential area of Lake City and a woman working in her garden kept glaring at me. It made me feel like I was in Nowheresville, Ohio. Maybe in another 100 years.

The 1st thing that comes to my mind when describing Seattle now is " phoenix north". Transplants. People come and go for jobs only. I would say its a bit souless now.

This city has always lacked a bit of soul. I've been here since the mid 80s and little has changed. I've always thought of Seattle's population as a big extension of an advanced high school algebra class. Most in class will have a high GPA, usually lacking social skills, a bit geeky, quiet and anti social.

Of course this is one massive generalization as they say, normally "where there's smoke there is fire."

Don't get me wrong!!! This type makes for a fantastic resident of Seattle. They are great neighbors, keep their homes up, pay taxes, bring stability into the region etc. Only downside is yes, many tend to be a bit boring. But for many, Seattle is nerd heaven. Others that come here looking for vibrancy, charm, fun and an upbeat social environment will be quickly disappointed.

Fact of the matter is you'll have to adapt to Seattle because Seattle won't adapt to you.

I've lived her for 30 plus years and very little has changed personality wise. Yes the population has exploded but all I see is a larger advanced high school algebra class.

Nonsense. Seattle attracts so many tourists due to incredible nature that surrounds it.

This is a chore, but I have to do it to show how this is such nonsense.

1910: Seattle 237,000, Spokane 104,000
1930 Seattle 366,000, Spokane 116,000
1950 Seattle 468,000, Spokane 162,000
1960 Seattle 557,000, Spokane 182,000
1980 Seattle 494,000, Spokane 171,000
2000 Seattle 563,000, Spokane 196,000
2017 Seattle 725,000, Spokane 217,000

"the worst of all possible worlds, a huge boring city". And you are basing this statement on what?

Perhaps you can offer some examples to make your point stronger.

Until then, your post is nonsensical.
My comment was not based on population, but culture.

I lived outside of Spokane in the 1970's and outside of Seattle also during that period of time.

Both towns in the 1970's were blue-collar working class towns.

They both had pretty boring downtowns. They had very little to offer in terms of a urban environment. I did move up to the Northwest from the SF Bay Area so that kinda set my expectation for an urban setting.

Granted I lived in Vancouver, BC in that time period. Vancouver was a cool city those days. Seattle, well it was like Spokane with bad weather.

Right, because Spokane has great weather. Your bias is unprecedented.

What is an "international city"? Is that a good thing?

BTW ... when I think "international", I think of it as one city (or maybe two at most) per country that might act as a representative of that country. In that regard do you really think Seattle will ever top New York City or Los Angeles or San Francisco or Chicago or ... ?

Nice try. You originally said "In the 70's there wasn't much difference between Seattle and Spokane."

I will totally disagree. Seattle was developing a high-rise skyline, The Seattle Mariners and Seattle Seahawks began play, and as posted earlier the population wasn't even close. "wasn't much difference?" Yeah there was.
