Glad it's working out!

The Vermont Inn is in a bit of a vacuum for corner groceries, but you could try 5th & Vine, 4th & Bell, just south of 3rd & Bell, 1st & Cedar, 1st & Wall...all light on meat or produce but you can get by with them. The drugstore at 3rd & Vine also has some groceries.

Thanks for all the responses. I've been busy all day so my reply is late.

Yea I have seemed to have developed bad anxiety in nyc. It hasn't happened here and I hope it stays away.

I have found a Safeway nearby and it opens at 5am and closes at 1am. I've never seen a grocery store with hours like that.

The raincoat will come later. But I at least have knee high hunter boots. I also can't really wear hats because I have locs and my hair is really thick. Even most hoodies are out for me. As far as being a lifer in Seattle time will tell. I do know the Northeast is just too cold (Seattle is a bit cool right now but I haven't heard of frigid temps here). I also dont use umbrellas anyway. It has most everything I need aside from overcrowded pottery classes that I can't get into (I'm thinking about just going to Tacoma for pottery classes even if it's an 1.25 hour commute each way. But I've gotten used to ling commutes and I would be doing this for 2 days max)

Good luck with the job offer!

Seattleites walk in the rain and they don't care.

Waiting for a cab in November at Sea-Tac airport...bystander says "the last time I was here it was raining". I replied "What do you expect, it's November." He did not reply.

Yes. Everyone I knew in Seattle used an umbrella. And judging by the scads of abandoned umbrellas in Metro Transit's downtown lost-and-found office, tons of people I didn't know also used umbrellas (at least--until they got on the bus!)

Well again “that”, you obviously don’t understand Seattle.

I've lived in the Seattle area most of my life and remember my first visit to NYC which was the only other "big city" I've been in. People talk about people in Seattle being depressed and lonely but I'll take that over constant stress and the need to be on your toes and semi-hostile 24/7. I only visited a couple times as a teenager, but it just seemed like my brain couldn't rest with everything I had to process while just walking down the block. And people just seemed irritated with everything...it was really weird to me and convinced me to stay in this half of the country.

Seattle has it's problems but none of them are new: drugs, homelessness, and a low/skewed housing inventory has been a problem since its logging and gold rush beginning. It's just that more people from outside Seattle are learning about them and pretending to care. Other then that it's a great place to live especially as a young adult wanting to explore and try things casually. And the rain/mist is actually our hidden gem; I'll take that over having to deal with regular snow and cold blasts all winter long!
