Hi everyone. I am planning a trip to Seattle for one week as part holiday part research. I am planning to travel to the Tsubaki Grand Shrine of America
(17720 Crooked Mile Rd. Granite Falls, WA 98252). Unfortunatly I cant see well enough to drive and must use public transpotation and taxis most of the time. I was wondering if anyone knew a good means via public transport, such as bus and taxi. on how to get from seattle (my hotel is very close to the airport) to the shrine. Any infomation would be most greafull. |

Community Transit bus # 280 goes to Granite Falls and will get you fairly close to the shrine. You can call them at 425/353-RIDE or 800/562-1375 to help plan your trip.

Seattle to Everett: Sound Transit 510 or 513 ...approximately 48 to 50 minutes
Everett to Granite Falls: Community Transit 280 ...also approximately 50 minutes. Crooked Mile Road is located on the highway before you reach the town of Granite Falls. Once getting off the bus on Hwy 92, you'll have approximate a half mile walk up Crooked Mile Rd. |

Opps, now I see you're staying near the airport.
Take Metro 194 from the airport area to downtown Seattle ...approximately 35 minutes. It looks like you'll have to allow 2 and a half to 3 hours for the trip each way. Another possibility is to contact a member through their website and perhaps arrange for catching a ride with somebody else who might be driving to the shrine from the Seattle area. Driving will take about an hour or maybe less depending on the time of day. Here's their website. |

Just tell the cab driver 4th & Union. There is a stop right there.

My suggestion would be to forget the taxi. There are less expensive alternatives to get to downtown Seattle from the airport than to take a taxi and are almost as efficient.
If you think the Metro 194 is too inefficient and will take too much time then the other alternative is to take the Gray Line Airporter. It's only $11.00 one way ($18 round trip) and is non-stop from the airport right into downtown Seattle. It will make stops at the major hotels. I'm thinking that a taxi will cost at least 3 times that much. Once in downtown Seattle, you can catch the 510 at 4th and Union which is the central time point for the Central Business District. There are two bus stops at 4th & Union (nearside and farside), just make sure you read the sign to make sure "510" is on the reader board. If you do end up taking a taxi, you probably should tell the driver to let you off at the Busway & Royal Brougham bus stop near the sports stadiums. That's closer to where the route starts and will be a bit less congested than going in to the CBD (unless the Mariners' game just let out ) |
