Lake Sammamish
So does anyone actually swim or do watersports in Lake Sammamish?

Yes, lots of people swim and do watersports in Lake Sammamish. Is there something that makes you question that?

Yep, people do that. Lots of people. LOTS of people. Multitudes of people. Vast throngs of tons of people. Especially on a nice day.

Ah, yes, Chenebe, it IS cold ...but that's kind of what you have to put up with in the PNW.
I remember years ago taking a friend from Arizona out on Lake Washington in a boat and having him comment on how cold the water was. This was during the summer. He was used to boating in water like Lake Havasu, Lake Mead, or other lakes on the Colorado.

But it's like a warm bath compared to Puget Sound.

ALL the water that is around the Seattle area, is cold year round... like 65-68 degrees... even in summer... but people still swim in it.

Ditto. And if the day is nice enough, I would actually advise going somewhere else to enjoy any waterfront activities, because Lake Sammamish is like a zoo - boats and skiers zooming in every direction, beaches and parks packed, a line of cars 300 yards long to get into the boat ramp, etc. Seems a little ridiculous at times, not to mention unsafe. Unless you're nimble enough to dodge the jetskis and whatnot. I took my kayak there once when I first moved here and once was enough.
Now, I have seen people swimming in Lake Sammamish in the winter or on not-so-nice days, but not that many and not for the typical "summer fun" aspect of it, but for fitness. Likewise with kayakers. Not crowded at all at those times, obviously (though I still don't do anything there because it's really a pretty tiny lake, anyway).

One thing to note, on a nice weekend day, ANY lake around here will be as you described. Lake Washington isn't any fun at all on a nice day...and the smaller lakes are absolutely nuts...it's actually fun to just sit and watch the mayhem
