Hello all -- If I were to move to West Seattle (around the beach) and work a little longer than normal business hours M - F (8am - 7pm) in Northgate, what would the best commute pattern look like? Also -- how bad does the W Seattle bridge get during peak rush hour commutes?

The West Seattle Bridge itself isn't too bad, but it does back up on the on-ramp from the Spokane Street viaduct to northbound 5.

Luckily, you can also take 99 north (Aurora) and you won't hit any stoplights until Green Lake. You can learn your shortcuts through the neighborhood after that to get to Northgate if 99 is bad.

Your morning commute to the north will run into some traffic on I-5 to 520 or so, then it will be smooth sailing to Northgate. Your drive home may be backed up to 520/Mercer but should generally be okay once you are past Mercer. Or you can take 99.
