I specifically said, "If you don't have children..."

I still think that Tacoma is their best shot at an affordable house that is commutable to Downtown Seattle.

They may be looking to roll over the money from selling their current house (~$350k) to buy a new one. I'm also guessing they could end up moving with only one job in hand.

I know a lot of things are tongue in cheek on this site, but this is true. 800k in Seattle probably equals 300k in the south, if we're talking just house. No other variables.

If your kid joins MS13 BUT is able to make it out alive, then that's a positive. Great ABC special story.

Monroe vs Maple Valley vs Lake Stevens. Any preference?

I like to torture myself so I've looked at houses across the country via Zillow, Redfin. Shocking what you can get in Raliegh vs here.

Lots of cities have "good" areas and "bad" areas; Tacoma is no exception. (For some, a "bad" area is anywhere brown or black people can be seen on the street.) Increasingly, not just poor (brown, black, and white) people, but middle-class families, are being pushed, by skyrocketing housing costs, south of Seattle/Bellevue, including to Tacoma, among other varied locales.

If you insist on living only in perfect areas, be prepared to have your housing costs or transportation costs/commute times doubled. You'll also be ensuring that they keep going up, up, and away...
