Prisoners themselves are in close contact. There is very little 'privacy,' that's one thing the State takes away in-toto. You're reduced as a human to a number, or made to feel that way. That's the point of the penal system: strip away all you have, in terms of possession, then break you down mentally too for docility. Put you in with other villains. You're told what to do, where to go, basically 24 hrs (or at least monitored). There isn't privacy, only reduction of your body to that of a despicable germ infesting the facility, barely tolerated. If you're a misfit, weakling, or other oddball you'll have a rough time of it. I think if enough thugs ganged up on Vin Diesel in the prison yard, he'd not fight his way out either.

Prisoners come and go, probably daily, for various adjudication steps. Some come and go to outside medical. So, filthy people coming in from outside. The very ill may go external, to some fifthly hospital (by-definition) on the outside, then come back with more than bargained for.

You could pump chlorine or various alternatives through the whole thing, every day, doubt it would slow down transmission of a virus. Filth is everywhere, from the inmates on up.

OK, but how are they going to be better off on the outside? Without jobs? What's the difference between being reduced to a number, stripped of all you have, vs. living on the street, with nothing to your name? Talk about breaking people down mentally! That's brutal!

I hope someone follows this story, and is able to provide info, as to where these 600 prisoners are going to live. And who says, that once they're on the outside, they'll comply with the social distancing, even if they're set up with decent living quarters?

More info needed.

Wouldn't expect less from the leadership within Seattle/King County to think of the criminals wellbeing over the general public safety.

Personally, they should be contained/controlled and treated within the jail system... As a means of controlling the spread of this virus verses releasing them back out into the wild.

Well, when all these newly "liberated" criminals hit the streets, I hope that there isn't a spike in crime and violence in Seattle/King County, cuz after a week or so, they will and without question, go back to doing what got them locked up in the first place.

But, the people of Seattle/King County keep reelecting the same people as failed leaders.

I'm just wondering how the politicians are going to spin the next horrible act of violence committed by one or more of these released prisoners in the Seattle area.

This is super stupid. They'll be released out into public to possibly infect more people, obviously in this current state they will not be able to get any jobs, and will likely go right back to crime to support themselves during this pandemic....not what the law abiding citizens need in an already awful situation.

Haha, wow, I didn't even think of that! Even under the best of circumstances, they have trouble getting hired, but now, the only jobs to be had are at grocery stores & pharmacies and other "essential" businesses, and they have plenty of newly-unemployed cashiers and stockers to choose from.

Whose bright idea was this, and what can be done to prevent it? It's "cruel and unusual punishment" to be thrown into the street with no work prospects (and therefore--no housing prospects), with a killer virus circulating. This is insane! Maybe the ACLU could get an injunction to prevent it?

???????
