Smile Issaquah Highlands ...garages?

I've been looking at Issaquah Highlands (haven't been there, only thru the web) and I just noticed that the garages are not in the front of the house. I'm assuming that they are in the back. So I'm wondering what this looks like when you drive down the street....are you looking at the back of everyone's houses? Is there even a backyard?

I live in the Issquah Highlands, and there are some houses that have the garages in the front. Many of them have the garages in the back.

The streets are really beautiful, as all you see are these super pretty houses, with no ugly garages or driveways. The driveways and garages are off of alleys that are out of the way, and basically only used by residents that have a garage there. So all the streets that you'd drive on through the neighborhood, you don't really see anything but the front of the houses. Oh, and most of the houses have yards, but even as a Californian, I think they're pretty small.

Calling the grass in Issaquah Highlands "yards" is charitable. I think that "patches" or "slivers" of grass would be more appropriate.

In the few times that I have driven through, it seems like nice area but the lots are very small.

So the garage isn't attached to the house? There's no driveways?
VeronikaW: is your house like this? If so, does this bother you or do you get used to it?

Most of the garages are in the back and attached, and some are in the back and not attached. There are several streets where the garages are on the front attached, like a traditional house.

We live in a townhome, and the garage is off an alley in the back, and it's attached to the rest of our townhome. We don't have a driveway. My husband parks in the garage, I park on the street in front of our place (with a baby it's easier for me that way).

I really like the look of the houses with the garages in the back. They're super cute, and I'd say with an attached garage in the back, it's a nice setup. I think of the houses with garages in the back, about 50% of them have a driveway, and the other 50% do not.

I wouldn't ever buy a house with a detached garage (not in WA where it rains so much, at least).

When I was looking out there a few years ago, I also saw a few houses with "Tandem" garages, which is a 2 car garage, but with one car in front of the other...I thought that was a pretty novel solution...

That's what our townhome has, but some of the much larger single family homes have those, too.

I live in a townhome community just down the hill from Issaquah Highlands and many of our units have those kinds of garages. They are certainly space-savers, I guess, but many of the people who have them complain of having to move one car to get to the other, etc. It's actually to the point where many simply park their cars outside and use the garage for storage.
