Hi everybody! I'm a 21 year old female student that is currently looking to move out of her parent's house!

I've been looking at some places, but would like to go somewhere safe, friendly, good weather, not too expensive, and where I can make friends. I've been looking mostly at Nashville, Denver, Seattle, and Phoenix.

As far as Seattle goes, I do have an aunt who lives there, and could help me get set up, but what I'm really worried about is jobs.

I have an AAS in Music Business Audio Production, and am currently working towards a BA in Psychology. Are there a lot of music jobs in Seattle, or not so many since grunge faded away? I've tried to find some online, but there haven't been many.

Basically, does anybody recommend living in Seattle when they're in their early 20's like me? Is Seattle a great town for that?

My friend wants to move to Phoenix, but I'm not so big on the heat or crime aspect there...

Thanks!
Stephanie

I would think that Seattle would be a good place... I know somebody who recently moved out here from the south who is also in the music business. The three places they were considering was Seattle, Portland and Olympia. At the end of thier search, they ended up in Olympia but were strongly considering Seattle as a good posibility.

My favorite band, God Module, recently relocated from Florida to Seattle. And up north in Vancouver, you have the industrial music capital of the world, birthplace of Front Line Assembly and Skinny Puppy. I'd say it's a great area for music... at least, electronic industrial gothic music. And of course there was grunge too, which proves my point. Lot of more mainstream bands like Death Cab for Cutie and Queensryche are from the area too! And let's not forget Hendrix!! Maybe you'll find a job at the Experience Music Project? That place is cool....

I've never been to the Experience Music Project...was it really neat? What kind of things do you do there?

Have you been to Vancouver? I'd like to go there, but I don't know how the American becoming a Canadian thing works...

Do you mean, like, converting?
This would have your official answers.

Stephanie,
Have you looked at Austin, Texas? There's LOTS of music here...good place for young singles.

Austin is a great town. Very friendly. Nashville is also friendly.

Seattle is not the friendliest town.
