New Seattle Police Pay -- Union Deal?
Someone told me that the Seattle Police Department's union is signing a new union deal that will grant officers a base starting salary along the lines of $57k.
Is this true? Has anyone heard or been following Seattle Police union negotations? Can anyone link me to where I can read more about it, if true?

Good, our police officers deserve the money. They should be paid more.

Unfortunately no, I totally missed it as I was out of town on business. I was deeply disappointed but it just made me redouble my efforts.
At this stage in life I'm a bad corporate citizen with dreams of protecting and serving -- since I was a wee boy, actually. After college I tried out for the NYPD but then they dropped their starting salary to $25k and it was no longer an option for me.
Now, as it turns out, I'm moving to Seattle and Seattle pays its cops a living wage. I've been in contact with a recruiter. Would love to talk with an actual working Seattle cop too and see what police work in Seattle is "really like". But I plan on taking the police exam in Seattle no matter what.

I know a few Seattle cops. They all love the work and hate the politics.
King County is also a good paying employer of police officers.

If there was any way for me to reach out and ask them some questions about working in the Dept, I'd love that.

I saw a website called officer.com with regional forums. Go look there.
