I went to Alki Beach last night as was amazed how many gangbanger types were there. My friend from California was with me and said how it reminded him of a SoCal beach. Not that it was intimidating or anything but I don't remember it being like that. When did it change? Is it because it was a Friday night?

Gangbanger types or just young miniorites? I love going to Alki Beach. I think I spend more time there than anywhere else in Seattle.

ehh I think a lot of kids are getting out of school, so they are going there for some fun. Plus with warm weather comes a lot of different types of people. I am sure they weren't gangbangers.
I used to live there and every year around this time EVERYONE was there! It is a popular spot.

I agree with Pwright and TaJasMi -- just kids, having fun. We don't have "marauding gangs" here, or even, if you remember the word, "hooligans" :-)
Alki Beach is very much a family, children, dogs' and teenagers' area and is as harmless as most anywhere else in western Washington.

Yes, where they loudly parade their gang colors -- taupe and beige.
