Seattle is one of the few major cities along the west coast that have large Japanese population. In the International District of Seattle, you can find many Japase owned businesses, the biggest and most visible Uwajimaya. This is a Japanese grocery store that sells not just Japanese grocery but gifts, fresh seafood, deli, art, and much more.

Since there is a large Japanese population in Seattle, there are many great Japase restaurants. My wife is Japanese and we often go try out different Japanese restaurants. There are many Korean owned imitations so becareful.

Here is our list of our favorite Japanese restaurants.

1. Chinoise Cafe On 45th:

2. I Love Sushi in Bellevue:

3. Masiko in Seattle:

4. Nishino:

5. Ototo Sushi:

6. Saito's Japanese Café & Bar:

7. Shiki Japanese Restaurant:

8. Shiro's Sushi:

9. Toyada on Lake City:

10. Wasabi on 2nd:

Those are some great, mouthwatering photos.
But you missed Edokko in Renton, one of my faves.

Thanks. Maybe you can list the name, address and any photos you have here so people can see. Let use this thread as THE thread to list good Japanese restaurants in the Seattle area.

Yeah but maybe not... it might well be considered advertising, according to the TOS.
Love your pics. Reminds me it's time for lunch.....

mod note: I think it will be acceptable for any established member to list the name and location of their favorite Japanese restaurant. You may even post some photos that YOU took. Please no photos from other sources ...if it's not a photo you took, just give a link to the picture.

Advertising would be if, for example, Toyoda Restaurant were to start posting here and giving their name and location in every post they wrote. Or, for that matter, if even an established member would start giving a link to Toyoda (for example) in multiple postings, then that would be considered spam.

So go ahead and post your favorite Japanese restaurants in this thread if you'd like.

Perhaps Im spoiled now due to the location in the motherland of Japanese cuisine ...but I always enjoyed Shiro"s place for "consistently" good sushi and other tabemono...

Some of the other pictures look a little "safeway sushi" but sometimes those wacky rolls are fun with an ice cold Yebisu biru...Hmmmmm Its almost quiting time, think I will head over to Shibuya and hit some Izakaya then stagger to the Yamanote sen....Ha sorry dont mean to rub it in.

So in short, my vote Shiro's, but I have not benn in SEA for 5 years....

Bon Appetite

Ahhhh Shibuya. Often stopped off at the movie there on my way to Meguro.... And there was a small Chinese restaurant near the eki that had the BEST harumaki I've ever eaten in my life!

You take the Yamanote-sen? Where to?

PS American sushi is sometimes a very strange beast... but usually very yummy. Strange, but good.

I live in Togoshi just off Togoshi Ginza Dori...talk about great sushi!!
My work is in Takanawa...However most my favorite places is in Shibuya, Nishi Azabu, Azabu Juban and Naka Meguro....

In Seattle however I find that most the Japanese, Korean, Chinese etc etc is done pretty well and much much better then other cities in America. Shiro's was always my favorite hands down and there is the attention to detail just as we find here in Japan.

Has anyone tried the rawbar at Seastar?? My friend works there and says its pretty decent. They obviously do much more fusion and other types of raw (poke and ceviche)

I cant wait to bring my restaurant idea to everyone in Seattle...I hope ya like it!
