I'm 72 and looking for a place my wife and I can enjoy with the time we have left. I love nature and we have to be near water. We also enjoy things of a cultural nature, mostly books, films, discussions. Don't care to go much over 4 or 5 hundred T. for a dwelling like approx. a half acre lot. Like Puget Sound area.

As long as you're not limiting yourself to Seattle, and are willing to live near water, but not on it, I think you can do it. The place that comes immediately to mind is Port Townsend. Beautiful part of the state, nice small artsy town with better weather than Seattle. It's in the so-called "Banana Belt" the "Olympic Rain Shadow" where it rains only about fifteen inches of rain per year. Some of the immediately bordering areas are homes on half an acre and more. Port Townsend is full of artists, writers, musicians, etc, and they take pride in their eccentricity. It's a fun town that people enjoy living in.
