Streetcar on Westlake is doing well for itself-- up 40% from ridership projections.

The expansions are pretty much in ink, too. They're searching for the funding as we speak.

The Monorail, however, should really add a stop or two. Or become a loop. Change the stock to something more modern, too.

No, I bemoaned that they aren't as open-minded as they think they are compared to the rest of the country. And once again this well read city needs to pick up a history book, most historians will tell you that the Civil War set the South back about 30 years, even though recently they've made more progress.

Really, I honestly thought it was doing very poorly and at night I usually see 2 or 3 people on it at most.

As for the Chicago comparisons, I think the mayor has very little to do with it. It has more to do with the unions, which Seattle is sorely lacking.

I agree with you about the monorail. At least turn it into something that loops around downtown, or perhaps around Lake Union.

But no matter how many people ride the S.L.U.T. (the streetcar) it's still a dumb idea because it's as slow as a car and gets stuck in traffic like a car.

Cars are meant to go far further than a streetcar, the streetcar is built to the scale of the neighborhood.
