OK ok I get the inspirational lecture.......I've given plenty of those over the years raising my kids.....always look for the silver lining. But I've also taught them to be realistic and sometimes life isn't always fair.....deal with it....you don't have to like it but let it be a lesson and learn from it.....move on.
What I've learned.....I don't thrive in this type of climate.....people actually DO smile more when the sunshines.....I will be moving on.

I too say inspirational verses like that - often - and I even have one on my computer screen to help
But no amount inspiration will make my S.A.D go away. If you have depression it's all encompassing
I did give you a rep point - thank you

Yeah, I find that particular phenomenon to be particularly irritating. I'd ALMOST rather have it stay cloudy all day than to have it come out for a couple of measly hours at the end of the day.
Unfortunately, the 4-5 PM arrival of the sun occurs far too often - and in fact seems to be more the rule than the exception this year.

So much negativity and thinly veiled insults in this thread...it's really not called for and it's very unbecoming.

I did.
I'm also starting to hate the term "sunbreak". It makes us in Seattle sound pathetic. Like junkies trying to get their fix even for 30 seconds.

This is more like a curse than a gift.

I can laugh at myself and recognize things for how they are. We don't have a sunny climate like Florida and California, thats just all there is to it. I don't understand the endless bickering and complaining. If climate is your number one criteria for where you want to live, then Seattle may not be your best option. If you are prone to SAD, you are probably in the wrong place. For those of us that either grew up with it or have the mental toughness to deal with it, it's not that big of a deal, and the many other positives of living in western Washington outweigh the somewhat irratating weather.
And to clarify one thing that has kind of come up recently....This is an outdoorsy town. Exhibit A: REI was born here and is still headquartered here. In other words most people are not imprisoned in their homes like some of the detractors would have you believe. They are out biking, hiking, sailing, climbing, etc....yes even when it's not perfectly clear out. It's not a bunch of nerds cowering in front of their computers with a torrential downpour keeping them trapped inside.
