Moving from Baltimore burbs to Seattle and noticed that Federal Way, Redondo are has lower prices for condos and town homes compared to other parts of Seattle. Is it a nice area for a married couple with 2 toddlers? I will be commuting to Downtown Seattle.
I would appreciate anyone's input. Last edited by shellshocked07; 01-07-2007 at 10:35 PM.. Reason: added more questions |

Redondo area is Federal Way is top notch in South King County if you can afford to live in that part of Federal Way you can't go wrong!! to commute to downtown you have really one of two options pacific hwy south or I-5 and the latter (pacific hwy) is the better option during rush hour.

traffic will be a problem is you want a commute that would be less than 45 minutes to an hour. time will be dependant on how far away from I-5 you will be.
Typically I-5 would be the best option if you don't want to work your way through traffic lights along pacific Hwy. |

Though some neighborhoods are nice, much of Federal Way has become really nasty and ghetto-like, shopping at the mall there is downright scary! Redondo is a pricy enclave of niceness in the midst of a lot of squalor...if you live there you still have to shop and dine out in the much less desireable areas. You might moving a bit further North to Des Moines, or East to Kent.

although federal way is nothing remotely resembling the semi-rural place i grew up in back in the 70s, to say most of it is nasty and ghetto like is imo just flat WRONG. the majority of fw is middle to upper middle class. depending on the commute you're willing to deal with, parts of pierce county may also be worth looking at. if $ is an issue don't even bother looking in norh or east king county. good luck
