In Seattle, commuter rail ridership recorded the biggest jump in the nation during the first quarter, with 28 percent more riders than during the same time last year...

So.....the question is .....for people that still drive there...does it feel 28 percent less crowded on the highways?

Yes it does feel less crowded on freeways

Lately the park & rides are full faster it seems

And when I go into work in my car it's super quick now

Plus when I park in the garage downtown - instead of the 6th floor like a usually would park, today I parked on the 4th floor (less cars to fill the garage)

I have noticed that the bus I ride is getting more crowded, and it's pretty easy to spot the public transit noobs.

My park and ride lot was filled today, I couldn't find a spot and had to drive to a different one. Guess I need to leave a little bit earlier from now on.

I have noted a little less traffic as a whole during the commute...not yet significant, but it's a start I suppose.

The biggest change I've noticed as the gas prices have shot up has been the number of Motorcycles and Scooters parked downtown. I have been riding to work year round for several years, and the spring has always brought more bikes out, but never like this. I'm happy to see it, more bikes on the road means more visability for all of us, and less congestion on the road. Now if they'd just let us split lanes like in California...

Americans drive 1.4 billion fewer highway miles - CNN.com

I wonder....will transit prices rise then? Or gas taxes get even higher?

Taxes will rise to pay for the transit here like it has in other cities.

That's flawed math. 28% more people taking public transit does not mean 28% less people on the roads.
