Question Need some info about a specific area

Hi all. I've been contemplating a move to Seattle recently and would like some info about this specific area:

18225 1st Ave South
Seattle, WA 98148 -1886

I want to know what the neighborhood is like and if its a convenient distance from downtown. I'm 18, just starting out, and maintaining a vehicle in Seattle is too expensive for me so I'll be commuting by public transit/on foot.

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

About 25 minutes to drive from there to downtown, much longer by bus...I don't think it's a bad area, I'd call it Normandy Park, but it does seem a bit far from downtown.

Yeah, that's starting to be a hike into downtown all right. We live in 98136 which is close and far all at the same time. You're way farther south.

Once you get that far out bus service really starts to thin out. Lots of people commute to Seattle on the bus with gas at $4.25 a gallon. That far away you'd have to transfer and probably pay the out-of-district fare.

Better to pay higher rent to live closer in than to commute.
To me anyway.
