Downtown Seattle to downtown Tacoma: about 35 minutes. Your mileage may vary. Traffic can result in it taking far longer, and if you're going from the southern part of Seattle, it can result in a faster trip.

Kennezite did say "going the speed limit" which means not sitting in traffic. From the James St. exit on I-5 to the downtown Tacoma exit is 32 miles.
