Sometimes those waiting to board can't see who's getting off and other times they really are just impatient. Part of it is up to the driver to let those waiting to board know that they have to wait. When I started to ride the bus more, I myself actually started to board before a woman had to disembark (didn't see her), and the driver held up a stiff hand and said, "Wait!" He was right to do so; people just need to make sure the path's clear before jumping aboard.

I don't know about Seattle proper, but there have been heavy influxes of Indian immigrants over the past decade, particularly on the Eastside. There are large agglomerations of Indians who commute to Seattle each day.

But back on the subject of racism. We all have our perceptions of different races, but there's no better thing to do than keep your comments to yourself in this regard. But let's not be PC here, if you're referring to African Americans, Seattle's black population is much smaller than Milwaukee's. There are more Asians here than Blacks, but you will still find this to be a predominantly white city. The collective culture is considerably open and tolerant here, but like many other cities, there are a few nutty crockers here and there that aren't shy about being bigots.

Perhaps to attract more african-americans to the area. Which is great, because as much as I love the city, it is lacking in cultural diversity. It is seemingly all white and asian.

I am African-American and I have an attraction to living in Seattle. Then again, I used to live in the Puget Sound area and liked it.

That's true I see swarms of black people when I drove by the crummier parts of town. Then it get's progressively whiter towards the richer parts.
