Default Shoreline/Lynnwood Vs Medford

My DH has the possibility of transfering with his job to Lynnwood. We have family in Shoreline who would love for us to live close to them. DH is also considering Medford, Or.

We have kids. We homeschool/public school depending on the child. We are coming from a place where the cost of living is super high, bad schools, high meth use. We live on Maui.

We have never been to Seattle. My brother keeps talking about the rain and constant chest problems. As much as we would love to live close by our oldest is asthmatic. He is allergic to dust and dust mights, something hard to avoid where we live. DH also suffers from occasional boughts of depression. This all has us leaning towards the Rogue Valley as opposed to Seattle.

DH would prob be making 40,000+. Is that enough to live a very simple lifestyle in Shoreline/Lynnwood area. I think we could get by well enough on that in Oregon.

Medford Oregon - hands down.

And are you looking to buy a home? 40K won't buy you a house unless you have a ton of euqity in a house you are selling.

Where are you coming from? I'm from Calif, and I have a doozy of a time with the constant cold moist air (lots of chest and sinus stuff I never had before) - SO we are moving back

Medford. Hands down.

Southern Oregon is a beautiful place and Medford is in their banana belt.

However, good jobs in Medford are not plentiful. Jobs in Seattle are more plentiful.

I prefer Seattle to Medford. Medford is a nice area, but has harsher winters.

Shoreline and Lynnwood is a good area with good schools and good people. Just don't go to Lynnwood High, as its sinking. (Or did they fix this yet?)

We don't have rain like the Maui monsoon rain... we have drizzle drizzle all day rain. Which can make it more depressing, but it makes the great days all that much greater.

Have you visited that family in Shoreline? If not, go visit... and just know that it does rain in Seattle, even though you may not see it while you're there.
