apartment dilemma
I'm currently living in Maple Leaf. It's a great location, I'm on the bus route, like 5 human steps away from my doorstep, and a nice cafe shop opposite the apartment. The rent is a super low $512!
The problem: The lease is a month-to-month 2BD/2BA apartment. My other roommate who I met off craigslist is unsure of her move out date. She just graduated college, and wants to move to London, blah blah but is collecting money. She presumes she'll be here till May 09, but it sounds flakey.
I struck off well with a few other college goers who have taken up a 6BD/2BA house on 55th St & 7th Ave NE; the rent is $500 or $525 depending on the room size. The problem here is that there was some mold (I don't recall it being too much) in the bathroom and 3 people share 1 bathroom. 3 guys 3 gals. This a lease starting september.
I'm faced with a choice-dilemma, I can either continue to live in my current apartment which gives me a bedroom and bathroom, on the bus route, very safe location, blah blah, but face the possibilty of my roommate wanting to move out, or take up this lease with 5 others, share a bathroom, and guarantee low costs.
I generally take showers @ Pro Club anwyay every evening so I'll probably be using the bathroom for #1 + #2.
Thanks for your thoughts!

Those TWO choices are not your only choices -- life is infinite.

Couldn't you also keep your existing apartment and get another roommate, if your current roommate moves out?

I agree with Ira.
more then 1 room mate is asking for trouble.
I have as a young man done the group home thing with some friends, needless to say lots of sleepless nights, dirty objects of questionable origin, fights over silly things....
Since you are new to town, just kick back where you are and find a new room mate. You have plenty of time, and you may find some one really cool if you are doing the picking.
Good Luck
