Hello,

My husband just got an offer from microsoft and we are considering moving to Redmond. We have a 6 & 2 1/2 year old. Can anyone recommend a private school nearby microsoft. We have no idea about redmond area, and we will be moving from San Jose bay area. At this point (mid-July) in San Jose both, good public and private schools are impossible to get in. Is that the same case in Seattle?

Got some really valuable information from this this forum regarding houses, places to live in etc. Great input everyone! thank you.

Public school impossible to get in? It's public - you just have to move to the area a school serves and you are in...

The schools in Redmond, which is in the Lake Washington School district, are some of the best in the state. Particularly around the Education Hill area.

Not in San Jose I know it's crazy out here. Good Public schools fill up in March. Anyway, glad to know that's not the case in Redmond. Any private schools that you'd recommend also?

I don't understand how they can LEGALLY turn away children from public school? There is a little federal law called "no child left behind".... They are required to provide a free and appropriate public education (FAPE).

What is the option for children who are turned away at public school? Or who moved there after March?

Its the same in our area. All children, of course, have the chance to go to the closest public school, but its harder to get your kids into the public "magnet" schools. There's either a lottery system or an admissions test.

Yes, with magnet schools - but she just said public?

She made it sound like that isn't the case where she is.... confusing.

well I said "good public schools". Kids are offered space in any public school within the district they fall in.

Now can we please get back to my original question, does anyone have recommendations on private schools as well?

Thank You Jenbar on information about Education Hill area.
