Be careful in West Seattle because West Seattle is even more unsafe than South Seattle but if you live in High Point you are right on the water. I used to live in Seattle but I am in the south now you have noting to really worry about the south is way worse than up there.

Uh...how long ago was that and what part of Seattle? High Point has been COMPLETELY razed and rebuilt...and no, High Point is not on the water, but is on top of hill closer to the Delridge side than California Ave. Additionally as a West Seattelite living just below High Point, I couldn't disagree more with your statement above.

I think people's perception of Seattle in regards to crime is a little skewed, what one would call "ghetto" here would be considered the suburbs in Cali. I moved from Long Beach (L.A. County) last year and the only crime I see is the higher gas prices in Kirkland compared to Lynnwood.

I agree. When I moved her in the early 90's from Houston, it amazed me how people would talk about certain neighborhoods being bad. I don't live far from White Center. While by Seattle standards, it's considered bad, it's nothing compared to what the wards were like in Houston. I've lived in the "barrios". Neighborhoods like White Center, Rainier Valley, and even Belltown are sedate compared to what Houston's Fourth Ward was. With that said, doesn't mean that one should not use common sense when in these areas, but this is an urban area after all and common sense should be used any where you go.
