Default Public transit psa
Google maps now has a "public transit" function that will tell you which buses you can take within the Seattle area. There is also a "walking" tab that will show you the shortest walkable route between two points (handy in a place with lots of 1 way streets). I don't know how accurate these are yet, but its a great start!

I've only noticed the public transit function in Seattle and Milwaukee, but not yet in NYC or my current area.
