They can usually be bought fresh at the Pike Place Market. Many Asian restaurants in the area serve them as they are considered a delicacy in many parts of Asia.

Yes, it is pronounced "gooey-duck". The name geoduck is of Lushootseed, (Native American) derivation.

It doesn't taste like overcooked clams or pencil erasers though it might if you overcooked it. I've only eaten them in a clam chowder, and they were very good, maybe even a bit more tender than regular clams.

I've tried it in a hot pot place in Vancouver. In the broth it tasted fine as long as you don't overcook it b/c then it will get tough. I also tried it raw and it is very briny. Not bad either way. So many ways to cook it though so your experience will definitely vary.
