Default Seattle nice, summers great, job sux

I have enjoyed being in Seattle. The people are definitely polite in general than the DC metro area. But I am nervous about the rains and lack of sun. However, right now I have a different peeve, which is working in this big gorilla company on the east side and the cut-throat dog-eat-dog culture there. Too many people from India and their class concepts make the environment very bad. I like Seattle with weather caveat but I regret joining this shop. ****ing recruiter who painted such a rosy picture.

Default The Gorilla

I work for "The Gorilla Company" as well, and have for some time.

The good news is that it's so huge that as you settle in you'll find jobs in myriad different businesses. Don't be put off by where you start - there is always a better job available.

Yes, there is a large "Indian Mafia" component... but it's really not much different than the white male component that dominates elsewhere. You can work with it.

And as with all stereotypes, yes, there are truths, but some of the best people I've worked with have defied those stereotypes. Don't get bigoted - it will only hurt you in high tech.

Good luck.
