Default Antique automobile in Seattle.

I have an old car..a 1970 Ford Torino. I was gone for a year in Iraq. When I took it to the storage site...before I left...it had a problem with starting. At that time, if you jump started it, or put a full battery "jump start" pack on it, it would start....No problem.

Since I've been back home ...I've tried those same fixes..and like, 5 out of 10 times...if you tried to start it...it just tried (and immediately failed ) to start...then made that horrible CLACK!CLACK!CLACK! solenoid clicking sound. I even bought a new battery for it. No dice.

The headlights work. All of the electrical stuff works... the heating system works. The cooling system does NOT work. Would probably need an A/C guy. (Who specializes in old/antique cars?) It does have an updated A/C...and electrical system. (Circa. 2006.)

Perhaps you could recommend a good body shop? I need the rear window seal replaced. The back window leaks in tears (like crying tears...tears from crying..ARGH.. whatever!)

Does anyone know a good shop that handles older cars? Or does anyone know someone that does good side work? I'm all and willing to hand the keys over to some one that will take care of it. (TAKE CARE OF IT! Not drive it like they stole it!!! )

I've had it for 18 (almost 19) years. Looking for someone who respects a car and doesn't see it as "YEAH>> OMG>> 475 HP!! YEAH!! OMG!! TAKE IT TO THE TRACK!!!" 500 HP!!!..OMG OMG OMG!!!!..!!!!

I was letting http://www.scottstreetrods.com/ work on it...but I'm curious as to if I'm missing out on anything (or anyone you know of) who is good. (Or just as good as Scott. Scott is pretty freakin' awesome.) He hasn't answered his phone lately........

I don't want to just give the keys to just anyone.

Thanks for your help.

If it doesn't start your not going to be able to tell if the heat or AC works.
That was actually the 1st car I ever owned.
It sounds like you need a new starter/solenoid. It's an easy/cheap fix.
What size motor is it?

I found the problem. Starter cable got too close to the headers...

Note to self....zip ties for the win.

Already have it running. Go figure. Still would be nice if anyone has any information to share....
