NFL football question regarding bars
I'd hate to bother the group for one last favor but need to. Im indebted forever. Im coming to Seattle this weekend for apartment searches and it just so happens to be NFL kickoff weekend. Im an Eagles fan (BOO, right) and need to be at some sort of bar to watch the game. Is anybody aware of a bar that has the NFL Sunday Ticket or of one that shows Eagles games (for some reason). Thanks.
Ill be staying in lower queen anne at the Meditteranean Inn if anybody knows somewhere close. Im not picky though.

I'd guess that Floyd's Place, 521 1st Ave N, 206-284-3542 would carry the NFL Sunday ticket. It's a popular sports bar, within very easy walking distance of the Meditteranean Inn, they have a bunch of big screen TVs, 20 something beers on tap, and decent BBQ.

What about that place called "Sport" in the Fisher Building? Is that place still open?
I seem to recall more TVs then customers when I was there, but that was 3 years ago...
Decent food, kinda expensive though.
Im thinking the same thing over here in Japan.....Kickoff is coming and I dont know where I will go this year to watch the Hawks!....of course the game is on at 3 in the morning, so that makes it a different type of challenge.
Are you ready for some football!!

I go to the Fox Sports Grill downtown on 6th Avenue between Pine & Pike. Food is pretty good and reasonable and all the games are on, and flat screens are strategically placed throughout. Since my Dallas Cowboys are not televised here in Seattle most of the time I simply head down to Fox and catch them every week.

I'm going to try one of those downtown places. For all I know, I might be the only fan of the perpetually underachieving Arizona Cardinals in the Seattle area , but it would be fun to see them on a more regular basis.

Dont feel bad, Im a reformed Cards fan. I was a fan when I lived there, and even was chef at Sundevil Stadium the 95-96 season. But that was when they played in the NFC East and my Hawks were still in the AFC....so I had to choose one after the "shuffle" to the NFC West, though I still have a soft spot for those cardiac cards...
I also grew up in Queens so I have always been a Jets fan. Its funny how different cities make you latch onto different teams.
I have yet to see the Hawks in Quest stadium...I cant wait, may even try and fly back for a game!
Its just nice to have the season upon us...

I dont know if Im allowed to post other websites on here, although Ive seen it done many times. But, I am using meetup.com to find Eagles fans in the seattle area. It seems as though Seattle has quite a few groups for migrant NFLers. Might wanna check it out. I think that one way for me and wife to alleviate the "freeze" would be to involve ourselves in a few, organized social groups. What better medium is there than football?

Fox Sports is very raucous (in a good way) and tends to attract the hotel crowd, so there are lots of visitors -- who tend to be more open than some in this area. I've had good experiences watching sports in this bar, and would highly recommend it ... especially if you don't know anyone.
PS -- Get the chicken fingers, they are really good ... and cheap during happy hour! The margaritas are OK, but not the best.

There is nowhere (at least I know of) in Tokyo that has the feeling of a sports bar in America on Sundays...
There was this little Cajun joint down by the Kingdome that we would enjoy the festivities...cant recall the name. FX was fun too...but it was always much more about the event of the people and the game then the actual game on TV.
I hear Quest is a great stadium....and LOUD!!!
The best place here in town is a British pub, and I have to hear the Brits and the Aussie explain to me for the 100th time how big of "whimps" NFL since they wear pads....
I try an explain the ergonomics of the games of rugby and football are different...but they dont buy it and start grunting. I would love to see somebody like Lawrence Taylor hit someone like Earl Campbell without pads coming through the line....uh, can you say pain. I do agree that rugby is way intense, but its just a different thing...
I do get very homesick around this time of year.....
