My friend, now you know no one will read all that! So if you get a room in a hotel in King County or in the City of Seattle, how much will the tax be?

15.6% if staying in a hotel in Seattle with 60+ rooms.
18.5% if renting a car in Seattle for less than 30 days, 8.9% elsewhere (base) in the state. Other cities may tack fees on.
Seattle may mean King county. Not sure.
Basically, it's a "if you have to ask" tax.
Ways you might get around that car rental tax would be to look for ways to get away from SeaTac/Seattle to see if the taxes go down. I believe there's a Hilton or Sheraton in Bellevue that has an Avis desk in it (I'm sure of the Avis desk, not sure of the hotel chain). You might be able to take a courtesy van for the hotel to/from the airport and then rent the car at the hotel and drive off. I'd call ahead to confirm their tax rate though (after all, it is wikipedia).

You're a prince!! Thank you.
King County has one tax structure. The City of Seattle has a separate tax structure.
Residents of Seattle, and people patronizing hotels, motels, restaurants, cabarets, etc. in the City of Seattle pay more tax than those patronizing such places in King County, whose tax structure is slightly lower. Seattleites are merrily paying for Safeco Field and Qwest Field, even though they voted to not build them...
King County's tax is only about 1/10 of one percent, sometimes all of 2/10 of one percent, lower than the City of Seattle. Bellevue is in King County.

"... Fremont is an independent republic."
"... and the center of the known universe."
Actually, Fremont itself is less restrictive, and calls itself "the Center of the Universe".
"On the corner of N. 35th Street and Evanston Avenue, look up to spot the 53-foot, Russian-built Fremont Rocket, which marks the official center of the center of the universe."
