Question Question about farmer's markets?

My mom has a friend that lives up on Whidbey Island. Her 16 year old son makes baked goods (from home), and sells them at a farmer's market. I would love love love to do this (I am told I make professional quality baked goods), but wondering about the legality. Do the farmer's markets have a don't ask don't tell policy about that kind of thing? Anyone know?

Thanks!

V. =)

OMG! I can't imagine there wouldn't be some kind of health/cleanliness inspection of the kitchen facilities- my 16 year old would let the dog lick the beaters and bowls!

Essentially, the main things they're looking for is that you have a food handler's permit and a commercial kitchen permit. The food handlers permit test consists of questions like :

If you've sneezed near where preparing soup, should you-
a. wash your hands with hot water
b. sneeze again into the soup
c. vomit into the soup

The commercial kitchen permit means you are using a licensed commercial kitchen to prepare the baked goods. Theoretically you can get your home licensed, but a better scenario is to find something like a church or a social club or fraternal organization and make a deal with them to give them a small amount of money or barter some good baked goods.

Seattle no. 1 for farmer's markets according to this survey. And no 1 for intelligence.
