Default Why are there two NE 30th streets in King County?

I understand the grid system King county uses, but coming up 405 north, there's a stretch in the "SE" part of the grid where there are a few "NE" streets.

Why is that?

That's because the City of Renton uses its own grid system. I work in that city sometimes and it can get confusing.

Renton does have it's own, illogical system. There are two streets which are each called Renton Avenue South, and they're not connected to each other.

Fun. Anyone know why they decided not to align with the King County system?
