Snoqualmie Casino
Anyone have any inside info on when they are "actually" opening? Their websight still says Oct-Dec. I am trying to figure out if it'll be open by the time my company gets here or if we have to haul down to Muckelshoot.

As one who has never been in a casino, can you explain their appeal? Why would you want to give away your money knowing it is mathematically impossible to come out ahead?

I don't like to head down to the casinos. The first moment I stepped foot in Las Vegas (driving through) I felt a sense of dread and just wanted to leave as fast as I could...
That said, I do understand their appeal. It doesn't make sense to go to a casino with the intent of making money. If someone is doing that, then they may have a problem to sort out.
Likewise, if you want to go to dinner to make money, or go to a show to make money, go to a sporting event to make money, go to a festival to make money, etc. then you also have a potential problem to sort out.
For lots of people it's just somewhere to go have a good time. There's a reason that the casinos have lots of slots that take change. It's so you can go, have some fun, and not be forced into spending a huge amount of money. When I have gone in the past, I've gambled less than I'd spend going to a professional sports match and had a good time for several hours.
I know people who go to casinos with $20, play nickle or even penny slots for hours, enjoy a buffet meal, and then go home having had a lot of fun.
It's not for me, I get to obsessed when I lose any money to get it back, which is exactly what you DON'T want to do, so I don't belong there. That said, there's no reason to look down on people who do.

It's the same as going to sporting events or concerts. You pay all that money and don't come away with anything but the memory of it. We go twice a year and never spend money that we cannot afford to lose. We both love poker and can sit in there all day and have a blast. For us its a form of entertainment that we enjoy! We don't always end up losing either...at least one of us does well enough that compensates for the others loss. We don't play as a way to make money, if we do we're thrilled, if not we had a great time trying!

Most I ever spent at a casino...$20.00.
Got a steak dinner for like, 4 bucks. And it was freaking AWESOME.
Free (alcoholic!) drinks and shrimp cocktails were a quarter? 50 cents? something like that. They give you booze...so you will lose, methinks.
Me and the wife played nickels.. and when I got a little crazy I'd pop in a quarter somewhere. I did play blackjack (and yeah, I know how to bet it.) Got 3 bad hands in a row. I lost 9 bucks in 45 seconds. I still have that last silver dollar looking token. I kept it to remind me of that moment.

I went to Snoqualmie Casino with my wife recently. They ruined a beautiful piece of land, just paved every inch for that ugly windowless casino. The only place to look out and enjoy the view from the gorgeous land they ruined, is from the cramped parking garage. Be careful in there too, reckless drivers are racing through it. I am sure native Americans hate the earth now, based on what they have done at this casino site. The old folk tale of native Americans loving the land is pure history. Go take a look for yourself.
The casino was packed by the way. I was wondering how it can be so, with high unemployment, but inside that sick place you'd never know. Screw the indians for what they did, and it's a shame that local building codes do not apply to them. I've never seen a more disgusting destruction of land in my life. I'd revoke their fishing rights tomorrow if I could. I'll never go to an Indian casino again either.
