job info for Casino Snoqualmie?
hey guys, I've been really pondering whether or not to give a shot at applying for Casino Snoqualmie. I'm currently a table games dealer at the strip in Vegas but I want to get out of this town, and Seattle always seemed like an appealing place for me (weather, atmosphere, etc). I'm also a college student. From what I heard it's opening Nov. 7th, so I have a few weeks to decide... Any info regarding salaries for table games dealers in the Seattle area? Is it worth it to move all the way up to Seattle for this job if I were to get hired?
Any additional info regarding employment (or anything else about Seattle and my situation) there is greatly appreciated.

Hi. This part of western Washington is green all year long, has air that's kept pretty clean by drizzle and rain especially during the winter and all year long by gentle breezes from the Pacific, and has dozens of various kinds of outdoor activities, most of them all year long.
The Snoqualmie area is a rural mountain-foothills town. There's pretty much no night life there besides whatever will happen after the casino opens. The area is safe, there's lots of snow-related fun during the winter, and a half-hour+- drive to downtown Seattle. You might want to Google Snoqualmie to find out information specific to what you're interested in.
If you live near the casino, you will be a fairly serious drive to a university or college, almost all of which are within the city of Seattle.
Here's the website of the casino which has "career" information in detail:
Sno Splash
As for comparative area salary ideas, here's the combined classifieds of the two leading newspapers in a very wide area including and outside of Seattle:

thanks for the info, although I don't really plan on living near the casino or in Snoqualmie because from what I saw as far as rent in Sperling's, it's pretty expensive haha. If anything I plan on living in Seattle that way I'm close to whichever school I decide to attend, plus have things to do for entertainment or whatever, then make the 30 minute drive to Snoqualmie for work if I get hired/decide to do this.
BTW how is the traffic on the I-90? I google map'd the directions from Seattle to the casino and it's pretty much a few cross streets then enter the I-90 for 25 miles then exit and I'm there. Is this a big concern? What's the worst time to be on the I-90 (this may actually be the deciding factor on which shift I would want to work). Thanks again!

I think you've missed the bus in terms of the initial hiring. There is a lengthy background investigation for all hires, so personnel decisions had to be made far ahead of time.

Great post, Chest Rockwell. Your point is very important.
About I-90 (we don't use the word "the" about any of our streets or hiways): the most crowded time on eastbound I-90 from Seattle is from about 4:00 to about 6:30 PM on weekdays.
There are many neighborhoods in Seattle city proper, and it's a pretty spread out area. To get an idea of rents, here are good resources. In the first one, click on the map to learn the names of areas and neighborhoods, and to drill down to smaller locations.
NWapartments: Seattle apartment rentals, house rental listings, rental classifieds and other property rentals in Seattle, Tacoma, Bellevue and other Washington areas, cities and neighborhoods
And craigslist:
craigslist: seattle-tacoma classifieds for jobs, apartments, personals, for sale, services, community, and events
Be absolutely certain NOT to send anyone any money until you verify that the person actually exists, the property exists exactly as described, and the person is legally authorized to rent the property. Craigslist scams make the national news every couple of weeks.

While that may be true, they are still hiring according to their employment website. There's still a month+ until they open so depending on how long their background checks are I may still have a chance. Hopefully it's not too late for me though, seeing as I'm going to have to fly up there if they want to interview me in person... Do you know approximately how long they take for the background checks?
Thanks again for the info guys.

I just stumbled on this site. Trust me...Don't move! I grew up in the Seattle area, moved to Vegas for 8 years and was suppose to move back last week (to Vegas). I got a job at Aliante Station, but due to the short notice they gave me and an unexpected medical problem with my son, I have to delay my move.
When I first moved back to the Seattle area, I worked in the mini casinos and made awesome money....you keep your own tokes. I got out of the business 3 years ago because they do not know how to run casinos's here in WA. The tribal ones a bit better, but you have to sign something saying you know that tribal members come first. They can come to work drunk, get fired and rehired the next day...no lie! The money is OK in the tribal casinos (and the tokes have gone WAY down in the mini casinos over the past few years), but there is no place like Vegas!
Traffic and the whether he sucks too! I can't wait to get back to sunshine and open roads (with exceptions, of course).

There are several major casinos in the Seattle area, including Muckleshoot just outside of the Auburn city limits. Auburn is about 25 miles South of Seattle.

Don't listen to crazies! VEGAS SUCKS and we all know it. If I were you I would run to Seattle barefooted just to get out of this town! Seattle will be MUCH BETTER THAN THIS HELL HOLE. And who in their right mind would want to bring a child into this den of dung!

They why don't you run? Better wear your rain boots....major flooding going on now. There are drugs everywhere in this country/world. If you live in a nice neighborhood and raise your kids right, you shouldn't have too worry too much about drugs.
