"She misses the people and the culture and the more laid back atmosphere but she wouldn't move back. She said if Seattle was less gloomy during the winter she'd never leave."

It would be the most populated city in the US if that was the case. I think the evergray in the winter keeps a lot of people from moving to Seattle. Most people who live their and love it probably think that is a good thing!

I heard that people like to make the weather seem worse than it is ( and they do, I lived there ) to keep people from moving there. It is beautiful, love it totally.

People get their boots stuck in the mud routinely on their way to work in damp, cold Seattle, and the place has slugs the size of dogs that attack you when you're trying to get your boots out of the mud. Many people in Seattle show up for work covered in mud and slug slime.
